Castle Exterminators, LLC is committed to ensuring that castleexterminators.co is accessible to people with disabilities. We believe accessibility is not a checkbox — it is a fundamental part of running a family-owned business that serves every household in the Triangle equally.
1. Our Conformance Target
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard most commonly referenced under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for private-sector websites. Where practical, we also apply the newer WCAG 2.2 criteria.
2. What We’ve Done
- Semantic HTML — pages are structured with proper landmarks (
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<footer>) so screen readers can navigate efficiently. - Keyboard navigation — every interactive element (links, form fields, dropdowns, cookie banner) is reachable and operable using only the keyboard. Focus states are visible.
- Descriptive link text and alt text — images have meaningful alternative text; links describe their destination rather than saying “click here.”
- Color contrast — body text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) against its background.
- Responsive design — content reflows cleanly on phones, tablets, and desktops without horizontal scrolling; text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content.
- Forms with clear labels — the inspection request form uses associated
<label>elements, required-field indicators, and plain-English error messages. - ARIA where needed — interactive components (accordions, modal dialogs, the cookie banner) use ARIA roles and labels for assistive technology.
- Consent choice — our cookie banner is keyboard-accessible and can be dismissed with the Escape key.
3. Where We’re Still Working
We audit the site regularly, but no website is perfectly accessible. Known items on our improvement list include:
- Adding transcripts and captions to any video content we may publish in the future.
- Expanding descriptive alt text on decorative background photography where it adds context.
- Ongoing testing with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver) and keyboard-only navigation as we add new pages.
If you encounter a barrier we haven’t listed, we would very much like to know — see §5 below.
4. Compatible Assistive Technology
The site has been tested with the following combinations. It should work with any modern browser and assistive technology, but we specifically verify:
- NVDA screen reader on Firefox and Chrome (Windows)
- VoiceOver on Safari (macOS and iOS)
- TalkBack on Chrome (Android)
- Keyboard-only navigation on all supported browsers
- Browser zoom up to 200% and text-only zoom up to 200%
We do not officially support Internet Explorer or browser versions more than four major releases old.
5. Report a Barrier or Request an Alternative Format
If you encounter any content on castleexterminators.co that is difficult or impossible to use, or if you would like information from the site in an alternative format (large print, plain text, audio, or as a phone call), please contact us. We will respond within five (5) business days and work with you to provide the information or resolve the barrier.

Please include: the URL of the page you were on, a brief description of the problem you encountered, and (if you’re comfortable sharing) the assistive technology or browser you were using. This information helps us reproduce and fix the issue faster.
6. Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Information on filing an ADA complaint is available at civilrights.justice.gov/report.
7. Third-Party Content
Some parts of our website rely on services provided by third parties (Google Analytics, Google Fonts, Font Awesome icons, external map embeds, review platforms). We select vendors with strong accessibility records but cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party content. If a third-party component is causing a barrier, please tell us and we will look for an accessible alternative.
8. Ongoing Commitment
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We commit to:
- Reviewing this Statement at least annually and after any major site redesign.
- Training the staff who edit the site on WCAG 2.1 AA fundamentals.
- Considering accessibility in the design and procurement of new features.
- Responding promptly to accessibility feedback from visitors and customers.
