Mosquito control works best when it targets both adult mosquitoes resting in shade and the standing water where they breed. Castle Exterminators offers barrier treatments, larval control, In2Care mosquito trap service, monthly seasonal programs and treatments before special events.
Results vary. Weather, rainfall, neighboring properties, breeding sources and the layout of your yard all affect how many mosquitoes you see, so we do not promise a set percentage reduction. What we can do is inspect your yard, treat the areas mosquitoes use, reduce breeding sites and explain what you can do between visits. The CDC’s guidance on preventing mosquito bites is a good companion to any yard program.

Exact coverage, visit frequency and any guarantee depend on your written service agreement.
Where mosquitoes breed and rest
Many mosquitoes around Triangle homes breed in small amounts of water: clogged gutters, plant saucers, buckets, toys, tarps, tree holes and corrugated drain pipes. Adults rest in shaded, humid vegetation during the day. A good visit looks for both. Tipping and removing standing water after rain is one of the most useful things a homeowner can do.
Seasonal program or event treatment?
A monthly seasonal program repeats barrier and larval treatments through the warm months. A special event treatment is timed before an outdoor gathering. Both are useful; they suit different needs. In2Care stations can be added to target container-breeding mosquitoes.
People, pets and pollinators
We use EPA-registered products applied according to label directions, and we will tell you how long to keep people and pets off treated areas when the label requires it. If you have flowering plants, a vegetable garden, a pond or beehives, tell us before treatment so we can plan the application around them.

Frequently asked questions
How much will it reduce mosquitoes?
We do not promise a percentage. Results depend on weather, rainfall, neighboring properties, breeding sources and your yard. We will explain what to expect for your property.
Do you offer natural or low-spray mosquito control?
If you would like to limit spraying, ask about larval control of standing water and In2Care trap stations, which target where mosquitoes breed rather than treating the whole yard. Removing standing water after rain also helps. Tell us your preferences at the inspection, and we will explain what each option uses before you decide.
Do you serve Chapel Hill?
Yes. We serve Durham, Chapel Hill and the rest of our Triangle service area. See pest control in Chapel Hill.

Is it safe for pets?
Products are applied according to label directions. We will tell you how long to keep people and pets off treated areas when the label requires it.
