About the wood borers (tree)
Wood borers are the larvae of metallic-colored beetles (like the emerald ash borer) that tunnel under tree bark, severing the nutrient flow and killing trees from the inside out. Adults emerge through D-shaped exit holes. They primarily attack stressed, declining, or recently planted trees — including ash, birch, locust, fruit trees, and many ornamentals. Keeping trees healthy, prompt removal of infested wood, and systemic injections for high-value trees are the main defenses.

Adults 6–14 mm shiny metallic beetles; D-shaped exit holes in bark; serpentine galleries under bark.
