Leaf Chewers
Caterpillars / beetles / sawflies
About the leaf chewers
Leaf chewers is a catch-all for caterpillars, leaf-feeding beetles, and sawfly larvae that visibly damage plant leaves — irregular holes, notched edges, skeletonized leaves. Most cause only cosmetic damage, but heavy populations weaken plants, reduce yields, and create entry points for plant diseases. Hand-picking, row covers, Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) for caterpillars, and targeted insecticides for serious outbreaks are the typical responses.
