Cellar Spider
Pholcus phalangioides
About the cellar spider
Cellar spiders — sometimes called 'daddy long-legs spiders' — are the harmless pale spiders with the impossibly long thin legs that build messy tangled webs in basements, garage corners, and ceiling corners. They're actually beneficial: they prey on other spiders, including some medically significant ones. The 'cellar spider venom is the deadliest' myth has been thoroughly debunked. If population is unsightly, just vacuum the webs and reduce indoor humidity.
