Common House Spider
Parasteatoda tepidariorum
About the common house spider
The common house spider is the tan-brown spider you most often see in corners of rooms, garages, and sheds — the one responsible for most of the cobwebs you spot. They're harmless to humans, build messy tangled webs to ambush flies and small insects, and are sedentary by nature. If you tolerate them, they help keep indoor flying pests down. If you don't, vacuum the webs and egg sacs and reduce indoor flying insect populations.
