Stink Bug (BMSB)
Halyomorpha halys
About the stink bug (bmsb)
The brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) is an invasive shield-shaped bug that has become a major nuisance across the eastern US. They feed on fruit and vegetable crops outdoors during summer, then cluster on sunny south-facing walls in fall and push inside walls, attics, and crevices to overwinter. When crushed they release a famously pungent odor — which is why you should vacuum them up instead. Seal cracks and exterior gaps before fall, and treat the perimeter.
