Fungal growth on joists, subfloor and other crawl-space surfaces is common in humid climates. Castle Exterminators provides crawl-space fungus treatment and qualifying mold remediation, and addresses the moisture that allowed it to grow.

Remediation without moisture correction does not last. That is why we pair mold work with moisture control or encapsulation where the crawl space needs it. We do not claim that any treatment permanently eliminates mold; the goal is to clean or remove affected materials and reduce the moisture that supports regrowth.

What crawl-space remediation can include

  • Crawl-space fungus treatment
  • Crawl-space surface cleaning
  • Antimicrobial application
  • Containment and removal of qualifying affected materials
  • Encapsulation coating
  • Moisture correction

Not included, or quoted separately

  • Mold work in living areas of the home
  • Structural wood repair or replacement
  • Air-quality testing or medical advice

Exact coverage, visit frequency and any guarantee depend on your written service agreement.

Moisture comes first

The EPA puts it simply: the key to mold control is moisture control. Read A Brief Guide to Mold, Moisture and Your Home. We inspect for the moisture source and include correction in the scope, so the remediated area stays drier.

What “qualifying materials” means

Some affected materials can be cleaned and treated in place. Others, such as saturated insulation or debris, are better removed. After inspection, we explain which materials fall into each group and what the scope includes.

Signs you may need this service

  • White, gray, green or black growth on joists or subfloor
  • Musty odors, especially in humid weather
  • Moisture or condensation on crawl-space surfaces
  • A WDIR or home inspection noted fungal growth

How Castle Exterminators handles it

  1. Inspect

We assess the extent of growth and find the moisture source.

  2. Written scope

Cleaning, treatment, removal and moisture correction are set out in writing.

  3. Remediate

Surfaces are cleaned and treated; qualifying materials are contained and removed.

  4. Correct moisture

Moisture correction, and encapsulation where agreed, to reduce regrowth.

We use EPA-registered products applied according to label directions. Your technician gives product-specific preparation and re-entry instructions when a treatment calls for them.
