Pharaoh Ant
Monomorium pharaonis
About the pharaoh ant
Pharaoh ants are one of the trickiest indoor ant species to control. They are tiny, pale yellow, almost translucent, and form colonies with multiple queens. If you spray them with a repellent insecticide, the colony 'buds' — splitting into several smaller colonies that spread further through your home. Pharaoh ants prefer warm, humid indoor spaces and are a notorious problem in hospitals, hotels, apartments, kitchens, and bathrooms where they can contaminate sterile surfaces and food.
