Most spiders in Triangle homes are harmless, but they can be unsettling, and webs build up quickly around eaves, porches, garages and basements. Castle’s spider control combines targeted treatment with removal of accessible webs.

Spiders follow food. A home with many spiders usually has plenty of other insects, so we look at what is attracting them, such as outdoor lighting or moisture that draws in their prey. Spider control is included in our general pest control plans.

What this service includes

  • Inspection of eaves, porches, garages, basements, crawl spaces and window frames
  • Targeted treatment where spiders live and travel
  • Removal of webs and egg sacs we can safely reach from the ground or a standard ladder
  • Advice on lighting, clutter and vegetation that attract the insects spiders feed on

Not included, or quoted separately

  • We remove only webs we can safely reach. High or hard-to-access areas may need to be cleaned by the homeowner or another contractor.

Exact coverage, visit frequency and any guarantee depend on your written service agreement.

Spiders that deserve caution

Two North Carolina spiders are medically significant: the black widow and, less commonly, the brown recluse. If you think you have found one, avoid handling it and take a photo from a safe distance. Most other spiders you will see, such as common house spiders, cellar spiders and wolf spiders, are a nuisance rather than a danger.

Why webs come back

Removing webs helps, but spiders rebuild where food is plentiful. Recurring service keeps both the webs and the insects that feed spiders in check. Porch and security lights draw insects at night; switching to warmer bulbs or motion-activated lights can reduce what spiders catch.

Signs you may need this service

  • Webs building up around eaves, soffits, porches and window frames
  • Spiders in basements, garages or crawl spaces
  • Egg sacs in corners or storage areas
  • A shiny black spider with a red hourglass marking — keep your distance

  3. Treat and remove webs
